Contoh 16 Tenses



1. Simple Present Tense ( S + Infinitive / Infinitive(s/es) )
    > Stating that the confessed acts of habit ( habitual actions )
       Ex : Made always goes to school every morning
       Indicator : - Always
                        - Go + es because the subject is Made

    > Stating the general truth that can not be denied ( general truth )
       Ex : The earth goes around the sun
       Indicator : - Go + es because the subject is the earth
       Pattern : Subject + Verb 1 / Verb 1 (s/es) 

2. Present Continous Tense ( S + to be (am, is, are) + Present Participle(ing+form) )
    > Stating that the ongoing actions.
       Ex : I am learning English at this moment
       Indicator : At this moment. Its mean ongoing actions 

    > Stating a temporary action.
       Ex : She is reading now, but will write soon
       Indicator : - But
                        - soon

    > Stating that the act referred to in the future.
       Ex : They are coming again in a few week
       Indicators : - Again
                          - In a few week
       ( S + to be (am, is, are) + Present Participle(ing+form) )

3. Present Perfect Tense ( S + have/has + Past Participle )
    > Stating yan activities conducted the past and still have something to do with the present,   
       but it did not last.
       Ex : I have already moved to my new apartment
       Indicator : - Have
                        - Moved = verb 3

4. Present Perfect Continous Tense ( S + have/has +been + Present Participle )
    > Stating that the act which started at the time of the past and still persists today.
       Ex : I have been writing a novel since January 2015
       Indicator : - Have been
                         - The words are often used since, for and how long

5. Past Tense ( S + Past Tense )
    > Stating that the act that was completed at the past (the time obviously)
       Ex : I did the homework yesterday
       Indicator : - Homework
   
   
6. Past Continous Tense ( She + was/were + Present Participle)
    > Stating that the act had already started and is still going on when the other acts followed in
       the past.
       Ex : You are listening to the radio when I came
       Indicator : - when 

7. Past Perfect Tense ( S + had + Past Participle )
    > Stating what she had done before the other actions performed on the past.
       Ex : he had completely read one novel when I visited him
       Indicator : - Had
                        - When
       Note : Past Perfect should be used if time is an act of the past sooner than other actions.
                  The first deed is done, we use Past Perfect, and the second act we use Past Tense.

8. Past Perfect Continous ( S + had + been + Present Participle )
     > Demonstrate ongoing actions in the past.
        Ex : The man had been smoking for 10 years when he finally gave it up
        Indicator : - For
                         - When

9. Future Tense ( S + will/shall + Infinitive )
    > Declare acts to be done in the future.
       Ex : She will come here tomorrow
       Indicator : - Will
                        - Tomorrow

10. Future Continous Tense ( S + will/shall + be + Present Participle )
      > Indicates actions that will occur when it is clear.
         Ex : they will be going at eight o’clock tomorrow
         Indicator : - Will
                           - Tomorrow
11. Future Perfect Tense ( S + will/shall + have + Past Participle )
      > Stating that the act had begun in the past and soon will be completed in time to come.
         Ex : I will have reached the peak when the sunrises

12. Future Perfect Continous Tense ( S + will/shall + have + been + Present Participle )
      > Such as Future Perfect, but the act is likely to continue in the future.
         Ex : We shall have been working in this company for three months by the end of this year

13. Past Future Tense ( S + would/should + Infinitive )
      > Stating that the act will be done in the past
         Ex : I would go to Jakarta last week

14. Past Future Continous Tense ( S + would/should + be + Present Pariciple )
      > Stating that will act being done in the past.
         Ex : She would be playing soccer yesterday morning

15. Past Future Perfect Tense ( S + would/should + have + Past Participle )
      > Stating assumptions that might not happen because the conditions are certainly not be 
         met, but only as an assumption that the requirements are fulfilled in the past.
         Ex : I would not have come late if I had got up early
         In fact : He came late.

16. Past Future Perfect ( S + would/should + have + been + Present Participle )
      > Like Future Perfect Tense, but in the past.
         Ex : I would have been staying here for six days by yesterday
